Test on Wednesday on motion c11

Know how to interpret the motion on d/t and v/t graphs, solving problems on distance displacement speed and velocity. Be ready to redo the ORQ on distance displacement speed and velocity.

Friday, October 18, 2013

Review for test on Monday

Simple problems on speed and velocity, distance displacement, acceleration. compare scalar and vector measurements. Define, give examples and elaborate on them.

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

for thursday

finish the acceleration problem worksheet. Know what kind of motion can be described in the graphs on the solving acceleration problems four page worksheet.

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Tuesday homework

We will finish the sheet with acceleration problems on it. We will show you how to recognize and calculate acceleration from word problems and graphs.

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

oct 8

Read the last part of chapter 11 on acceleration. Know under what circumstances an object is accelerating and when it is not.

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

Do the problem on the board.

find the distance, displacement, speed, velocity of a student that in 1 hour goes 80meters North, 600 meters east, 400 meters south and 600 meters west. Draw a free body diagram. Show math with both magnitudes and direction.

Thursday, September 26, 2013

If you did not do the vector homework or the pillbug race calculation homework. Then do it tonight for homework.

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

for Thursday in class

Bring in your data table with the velocities of each segment calculated. Show the formula and the calculations. Also bring in the vector homework rewrite.

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Tuesday homework

The data from the pillbug race needs to be analyzed segment by segment. Use the pt slope formula. change of Y divided by the change of X. Do it for your pillbug race data(all the data, not just the fastest). Remember if yours runs backwards you will get a negative number which changes your direction. Calculate all the velocities, remembering to show the direction and the magnitude (number and unit in cm/s).

Friday

Most people did the homework incorrectly. Although the math is really simple, the diagram must be drawn and labeled exactly, so that the situation makes sense to someone. The resultant vector is shown when properly done and lays beside the original vector drawing. You must also show the math along with the direction. Place the big number over the small number. the bigger number gets the direction in the resultant vector. These are easy questions on the Physics MCAS. But the process of setting up a diagram is what they are looking for. You must always show your work. Good luck, please redo the homework and follow the steps correctly.

Thursday hw physics

Do the vector and free body diagram homework found in the student resources on the blog. It is four problems. Look at the example and make sure to draw the vectors that describe the motions, then the resultant vector, Show the math for addition or subtraction, and make sure all three vectors for each question are labeled with number, units and direction. this is graded hw. Please do it on a separate piece of paper and hand it in tomorrow. Do not email it.

9 13 13

Many students had trouble with the quiz. It was modeled after the worksheet we gave in class. Please review this material if you had trouble with the quiz. Don't forget the work for mr. Hennessy listed on his blog.

Thursday, September 12, 2013

9 12 13

Quiz tomorrow on the terms of scientific method and experimentation and the selected vocabulary from chapter 1.

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

9 10 13

If you were absent you can take notes from chapter 1 section 1 and 2. We forgot to put hypothesis in the scientific method between research and testing by doing and experiment. It would help if you knew the steps of the Scientific method and these vocabulary words: hypothesis, theory, law, controlled experiment, variable group, control group, science, physics.

Friday, August 30, 2013

8 30 13

Bring in materials for sound proof box. Bring in the bug run data table for later next week.

Thursday, August 29, 2013

Finish making the data table for the bug run. Know the definition for Science and Technology.

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

8 28 13

Write name in front of book inside page. cover book. Read chapter 11 section one pg 326-331 on distance vs. displacement. Be prepared to race bugs tomorrow. Get excited!

Welcome!

Good Day and welcome to my class. Here is the blog I will use to communicate to you and your parents about hw, quizzes, tests and other projects. Check it every night to make sure you are ready for the class the next day we meet.
